SCRIPT

舞台は1879年、ノルウェーのある都市。

クリスマスを目前に控え、夫トルバルドと幸せな日々を送るノラ。

しかし彼女には誰には誰にも言えない秘密があった。

夫の病を救うため、過去に違法な借金をしていたのだ。

返済も順調に進み、穏やかな日常が続くかに思えた矢先、ノラの秘密を知る男クログスタッドが現れ彼女を脅迫する。

夫の名誉と彼女の安泰、そして自分自身の生き方を懸けて彼女が最後に下す決断とは。

クリスマスのわずかな時間の中で、登場人物全員が葛藤し、人は初めて"本当の自分"と向き合っていく。

本 日 は 四 大 学 英 語 劇 大 会 に お 越 し い た だ き あ り が と う ご ざ い ま す 。 2 0 2 5 年 度 S t . P a u l ' s P r o d u c t i o n S t a g e M a n a g e r です。

社 会 が 日 々 移 り 変 わ り 、 こ れ ま で の 常 識 が 非 常 識 へ 変 化 し て い く 現 代 に お い て 、 今 年 度 も 無 事四 大 学 英 語 劇 大 会 を 開 催 出 来 る こ と を と て も 嬉 し く 思 い ま す 。

人 生 に お い て 「 本 質 」 と 呼 べ る も の は 何 か 。

そ れ は 「 競争 」 だ と 考 え て い ま す 。 あ い つ よ り 上 手 く な り た い 、 あ い つ ら に は 絶 対 負 け た く な い 。 そ ん な 競 争 心 が あ る か ら こ そ 、私 た ち は 本 気 で 人 生 に 向 き 合 う こ と が で き ま す 。 四 大 に は そ ん な 「 競 争 」 を よ り 熱 く し て く れ る ラ イ バ ル が い ま す 。

だ から こ そ 四 大 は こ れ ま で 存 続 し 、 だ か ら こ そ 私 た ち は こ の 活 動 に 大 学 生 活 の 全 て を か け て き ま し た 。 し か し 四 大 に お いて は 「 競 争 」 だ け が 全 て で は な い こ と を 、 こ れ ま で の 3 年 間 で 強 く 実 感 し ま し た 。

四 大 に 絶 対 に 欠 か せ な い こ と 、 そ れ は「 仲 間 」 と ひ と つ の 舞 台 を 作 る と い う こ と で す 。 時 に は ぶ つ か り 合 う こ と あ る し 、 ム カ つ く こ と も あ り ま す 。 そ れ で も そん な 「 仲 間 」 が い る か ら こ そ 、 ど ん な 困 難 に も 打 ち 勝 て る 。

今 年 度 私 た ち は 「 仲 間 」 と 共 に 「 全 プ ラ イ ズ の 獲 得 」 を 目 指 し ます 。

約 1 5 0 人 と 大 人 数 か ら な る 私 た ち 一 人 一 人 の 努 力 と こ だ わ り 、 情 熱 が 詰 ま っ た 「 A D o l l ' s H o u s e 」 を 打 ち 、 四 大 学 英語 劇 大 会 の 記 録 に も 、 そ し て プ ラ イ ズ だ け で は な く 、 こ の 劇 を 見 て く だ さ る 全 て の 皆 さ ま の 記 憶 に も 残 り 続 け る 「 一 生も ん の 舞 台 」 を お 届 け し ま す 。

最 後 に な り ま す が 、 い つ も 私 た ち の 活 動 を 支 え て く だ さ る 保 護 者 の 皆 さ ま 、 劇 に 一 緒 にな っ て 向 き 合 っ て く だ さ っ た O B G の 皆 さ ま 、 大 会 運 営 を 共 に 担 っ て く だ さ る 全 て の 皆 さ ま 。 本 当 に あ り が と う ご ざ いま す 。

St. Paul's Production 「 A D o l l ' s H o u s e 』 に ご 来 場 い た だ き 、 誠 に あ り が と う ご ざ い ます 。 原 作 で あ る ヘ ン リ ッ ク ・ イ プ セ ン の 「 人 形 の 家 』 は 、 1 8 7 9 年 の 初

演 以 来 、 世 界 中 で 上 演 さ れ 続 け て き た 不 の 名 作 で す 。

大 学 生 で あ る 私 た ち が こ の 作 品 に 挑 む こ と は 、 大 き な 覚 悟 の い る こ と で し た 。

そ れ で も こ の 作 品 に 惹 か れ た の は 、 自 己 や 社 会 と 向 き 合 い 、 自 分 の 人 生 を 生 き よ う と 変 化 す る 登 場人 物 た ち の 姿 を 、 時 代 を 超 え て 多 く の 人 に 届 け た い と 思 っ た か ら で す 。

新 版 を 上 演 す る に あ た り 、 私 た ち は 台 本 決 定 か ら の 6 ヶ 月 間 、 1 か ら 読 み 解 き 、 議 論 し 、 迷 い 、 ぶつ か り 合 い な が ら も 、 少 し ず つ “ 私 た ち な り の ” 人 形 の 家 を 見 つ け て い き ま し た 。

大 学 生 と い う か け が え の な い 時 間 を 賭 け て 、 人 と し て 生 き る こ と の 意 味 を 伝 え ら れ る 、そ ん な 舞 台 を 仲 間 た ち と 創 り 上 げ ら れ た こ と に 、 心 の 底 か ら 感 謝 し て い ま す 。

こ の 時 間 が 、 皆 さ ま に と っ て も 何 か を 見 つ め 直 す き っ か け と な り ま す よ う に 。最 後 ま で ど う ぞ ご ゆ っ く り お 楽 し み く だ さ い 。

■About Acting

And from "A Doll's House" by St. Paul, I would like to mention the character,

Kristine Linde, for her natural delivery and carrying the role throughout consistently on screen. 

■About English

Then we have "A Doll's House" in St. Paul's, we felt that Khristine did a great job of just being great with the intonation. That's what we noticed there was the intonation was smooth and allowed other people to play with her very well. So great job there. 

■About Stage Effect

"A Doll's House", touches like the Christmas tree. We really understood the passage of time and what time of year it was. The costumes were really beautiful. 

■About Directing

"WTF" is directing. What is it? That is something I'm still struggling with.

But, in the words of a famous Canadian judge, you know it when you see it. He wasn't talking about directing though. I won't tell you what he was talking about. Yeah, you know, when you see it, it's like, it's like when we were watching "Silent Sky" and there's that moment with the three women on stage working at the stations and just having allowing space for that moment to live and giving us like a, just a moment, there's no dialogue, but there's stuff happening. That's an example. or the choices in "Brighton Beach Memoirs" to see multiple things happening at once even if they weren't necessarily the focus of the scene, there's dialogue happening, and there's other things happening. Quite a bit of reading. The girls read a lot of books in that show, naturally? And yeah, "A Doll's House", the moment, Krogstad leaves for the last time and he's on the porch, and we see him outside for just a moment. Maybe that's directing. And in "Out of Sterno", where we saw actors who were in the scene with each other and listening to each other. That's, that's directing. Also, the use of talented extras. Who are the extras in that show? Can I see you guys? Because I didn't get to see your names. Nice job. So, yeah, I'm, I feel really honored to be here. This is when I get to do it. It's a highlight of my year. I get to see four great shows. But I still haven't answered the question, "what is directing?" All I've said is I've given you some examples, but it's as the people who directed this year know, it's a little bit of everything. And, but I think the most important thing that the director needs to do is to find the thesis of the play. Sorry, I stole that from you, Jon (Reimer). You said that earlier. I don't have an original thought in my head. Uh, finding the thesis of the play is the most important thing you can do as the director and then making sure the show, everything that happens in the show supports that thesis. So, for future directors in the audience, think about that, these, think about the thesis. Think about serving your central idea. And all of you, I know this is like you're doing this in university, it's just a few years, but I encourage you to keep making art, because it matters. Thank you for doing something that matters this weekend. That's it. Thank you, everyone.

This year, your theme was "transcend", and I really saw all four productions achieve that theme. In "A Doll's House", of course, Nora is waiting to spread her wings and fly beyond the confines of a restrictive home.
