SCRIPT

家族との生活に孤独感を感じていた少女ルーシー。

そんなルーシーにとって、イマジナリーフレンドのザラは一番の理解者であり、寂しさを紛らわせてくれる唯一の存在であった。

そんな嵐の夜、ルーシーが部屋で寝ているとリビングから物音が聞こえてくる。

暗闇の中物音へ向かい部屋を出るが、ルーシーは階段から足を滑らせ頭を強打してしまうのであった。

次に目を覚ます目の前には「見えない友達」であるはずのザラの姿が。

ルーシーは”見える姿”となったザラと過ごすようになるのだが・・・

本⽇は四⼤学英語劇⼤会にお越しいただき、誠にありがとうございます。今年度St. Paulʼs Production Stage Managerです。突然ですが、皆さんは仲間と共 に本気で何かに熱中した経験はありますか？私はこの四⼤活動の⼀番の魅⼒は⼀つの⽬ 的・⽬標に向かい、仲間と共に本気で活動することができるということだと考えていま す。⼤学⽣になり誰かと同じ⽬標を掲げて本気で何かに熱中することは中々出来ない経 験だと思います。今年度私達は「四冠獲得」を⽬標とし、⼀度しかない舞台で想いの伝 わる劇を打てるよう全員で本気の劇作活動をしてまいりました。⾒てくださる皆様に想 いが伝わるような劇とは⼀つの⽬的に向かいプロダクションの仲間と⼀つになり、One チームで舞台に想いを載せることができた劇だと思います。そのため「⼀⼼」という合 ⾔葉を胸にここまで⾛り続けてきました。我々学⽣が本気で作り上げた舞台を通じて、 ⾒てくださる全ての皆様にこの熱い想いを感じていただきたい。150⼈のプロダクショ ン員全員がInvisible Friendsを⼀⼼に愛し、その愛を⼀⼼に舞台へ載せ、私達の愛を⼀ ⼼にお届けします。 それでは幕が下りるその瞬間までお楽しみください。

Message from Director

本⽇はご来場いただき誠にありがとうございます。そして、私達の作品に関わってく ださった皆様に深く御礼申し上げます。私達が上演する『Invisible Friends』は家族に 対して不満を感じている、ある少⼥の奇妙な体験を表した物語です。劇中では様々な⾮ 現実的な出来事が起こり、エンターテイメント要素も沢⼭盛り込まれたお話ではありま すが、私はこの作品を「感謝や愛情を伝えることの素晴らしさを再提⽰するもの」とし て解釈しております。押し寄せる⽇々の仕事や⽣活をこなす中で、慣れ親しんだ関係性 や環境で暮らす中で、つい忘れられていってしまうような「⼀⾔」が⼈の⼼を動かし、 救っていく。私はそのようなメッセージをこの物語から得ました。ご来場頂いた皆様に も、この作品を観終わった後に同様のメッセージを感じて頂ければ幸いです。 四⼤という舞台に挑む中で、⼤学⽣活という若く・かけがえのない時間を使って何故劇 づくりをしているのか、そんな時間を使って伝えたいものとは何なのかを⾃問⾃答して まいりました。皆様には楽しんで頂きながらも、どこか⼼に残るような作品になること を深く願っております。 少⼥ルーシーの冒険を是⾮お楽しみください。

■About Performance

From today's production of “Invisible Friends” by St. Paul, we were really impressed with Ryan's short time on stage. And, sometimes, it’s most difficult when you have few lines, but you're still present and still actively participating. That’s really impressive. Also, from “Invisible Friends”, we were really impressed with Momoka's subtle expressions and growth of character throughout.

■About Stage Effect

“Invisible Friends”. Now, we have all worked in theater, we've all been on stage, and the one thing we appreciate is a safe set. Sets have to be safe for the actors, so we can play and perform without thinking, and the set for “Invisible Friends” was solid. You were running up and down the stairs, and in and out of doors out of a window, and it was safe, and for us, that's really important. So, good job on that. The technical lighting, the technicalities of “Invisible Friends” were very complicated, but we thought the technical team executed it brilliantly. It's very difficult to have seamless technical lighting and sounds and acting and bring everything all together, at the same time. So, that was wonderfully executed, which of course, also includes the magic. I like magic, audiences love magic, because we're all children at heart, like snow. So magic is great, we enjoyed. We can't work out how you did your magic, so it keeps the mystery for us. Audiences like that. And then of course, the sound I mentioned, the sound. So, the sound locations. The TV sound was in where the TV was. The music was where the music was. It’s just small details like that. You could tell that you'd thought about it. So, congrats on the technical, sound and lighting aspects. Well done.

■About Directing

If we consider "Invisible Friends," the set and the actors created an incredibly believable world. Every single thing on that stage worked together to tell a very clear story to the audience. Both family units used the space so well it actually felt like a real home. That is an amazing achievement to do that, and the world also extended beyond the stage. It was very clear with the exiting, and everyone who exited did it in character. I knew exactly what was going on in the entire space, because the play doesn't end just with your set on the stage, how you exited, how you entered, tells me something about the world that's outside the room or the house that the play is taking place in.

■About General

Most of that, fun but dark children's play in "Invisible Friends," which had so much energy and so many frenetic and crazy things going on. You guys, every one of you, actors on stage, people backstage, every one of you must be exhausted. So, after this, when the adrenaline wears off, when you stop feeling so like "Whoo, finished," go home and rest. All right? But well done, it was fantastic.
